Give Land Back

FAQ

Is this free to use?

Yes. Anyone can use it, share it or bring it to a class or meeting. We only ask that you credit Give Land Back and Native Land Digital.

Do you keep any of the money?

No. Each button takes you to the group's own donation page, and we never see or handle your gift.

How do I update this guide?

Use our form to add a fund, fix a link or tell us what we got wrong. A person reads every note before anything changes.

How did you choose these groups?

We looked for land trusts, land taxes and land back campaigns in the U.S. that are led by Native people and take gifts from individuals. We checked every donate link by hand.

Why isn't my nation on the map?

The map comes from Native Land Digital, and it is still growing. Hawaiʻi isn't on it yet, so we show Kanaka Maoli land groups there instead. You can suggest changes to their map at native-land.ca.

Is this map a legal border?

No. It shows land as Native nations describe it, and many lands overlap. The best source on a nation is the nation itself.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

It depends on the group. Many are nonprofits, while others are tribes or projects that another nonprofit holds money for. Check the group's donation page.
